Mercado Libre Kicks Off 2026 with Fastest Revenue Growth in Almost Four Years
Latin American e-commerce giant Mercado Libre reported a 49% surge in net revenue for Q1 2026, reaching $8.8 billion. The growth was driven by strategic logistics investments and a record increase in active unique buyers in Brazil.
Mercado Libre, Inc. (Nasdaq: MELI) today reported financial results for its first fiscal quarter ending March 31, 2026. The company achieved its fastest revenue growth since mid-2022, bolstered by significant market share gains in both the e-commerce and fintech sectors. Operating income reached $611 million, while net income stood at $417 million, reflecting the company's aggressive investment in free shipping and the Mercado Pago credit card ecosystem.
Strategic decisions made in late 2025, including lowering the free-shipping threshold in Brazil, have yielded results that exceeded internal expectations. Unique buyer growth in the region accelerated to 32% year-on-year, the highest pace in five years. Meanwhile, the fintech arm, Mercado Pago, surpassed 83 million monthly active users, as Latin Americans increasingly turn to digital accounts for insurance, savings, and credit services.
